Hybrid Author

The cat’s out of the bag! I’m going to be a hybrid author. What that means is that I will continue to be traditionally published through SYP Publishing as they published my Paisley Series.

BUT, I will be self publishing my historical fiction novel about the Salem witch trials. I’ve turned into a hybrid author!

So why change? Every author goes through a growing period. I’ve reached that point in my career. I want to be my own boss, learn more about the publishing industry, and achieve a goal that I thought of accomplishing when I first began writing.

My Historical Fiction Novel

My novel about the Salem witch trials has been a labor intense endeavor. I’ve been working on it for over four years. My son and I have a tentative trip scheduled to Massachusetts in the fall of 2019.  Just what a 28 year old son wants; To be dragged around by mom checking out old cemeteries, museums, a trail through the forest to see a pile of rocks that supposedly is a fallen in cave that a few people accused of witchcraft found refuge in when they escaped prison, and the very spot that they hanged those accused of witchcraft.

To say that I’m excited is an understatement.  We even have whale watching planned!

I went to my first official Writer’s Retreat in January of this year at a beach house on St. George Island. It was here that I shared the first couple chapters of my witch story. It was critiqued and I even benefitted from some free editing by Adrian Fogelin. Am I going back again this January? You betcha!

Back to Self Publishing

Several author friends have self published with much success.  As a self published author, I’ll have complete control of my novel. Everything from the cover design, publication date, book events, promotional ideas, give aways, contests, and social media chat.

I’m sure when it’s all done, I’ll be dog tired.

Chanda Hahn, Cameo Renae, and Cassie Selleck have flourished as self published authors. Cassie’s novel is in production to be a movie. An author can dream!

Wish me luck in this new endeavor as an author. As long as you enjoy reading, I will keep on writing.
