Myra Jean’s Restaurant in Crawfordville, Florida

Are you interested in breakfast? Try Myra Jean’s restaurant. How about lunch? Drop in at Myra Jean’s Restaurant. Have you had a long day at the beach and don’t want to deal with making supper? Yeap…Myra Jean’s.

This Iconic family-run restaurant in Crawfordville, Florida has been around since 1985. Myra Jean Nutting and her two sons ran it.

It’s now run by her son Rob Nutting, famous for his colorful bandanas, and his wife Raina.

If you want fast-food, you better keep on driving, but if you want a REAL hamburger, crafted in the kitchen, served juicy and hot, with a smile, then take a seat. Oh, and don’t forget to visit the ice-cream parlor on the way out. Even the characters in my novel Paisley Memories enjoy their meals here.

Recently, they started making pizzas.

Did you hear me? Pizzas!

This past Tuesday, I craved pizza something awful. I ordered it and slipped into the kitchen to watch them make it.

No premade mix here. Fresh from scratch, and oh, so good!  After the dough has risen it’s placed in this thing-a-ma-bob, below. Yes, I know. I should have asked what it was called, but let’s focus on the pizza here.

THE FUN BEGINS AT MYRA JEAN’S

Sam tossed my pizza in the air. I gawked at him like a kid in a candy store. I’d never seen a pizza tossed in person before.

It’s the little things…

Sam and Lydia’s pizzas were a blur in the air as they tossed them.

“Have you ever thrown one up so high it hit the ceiling?” I asked.

Lydia smiled. “Yes, it’s happened.”

“THE BOARD OF SHAME”

Accidents happen and this Board of Shame is proof. No one goes unmentioned, Even the owner Rob is on it.

Here’s my pizza, all sauced up and no where to go…except the oven.Almost ready. That oven is a scorching 600 degrees!

It made it in the oven before I stuck my finger in to get the sauce…dang.MY PIZZA IS READY!

Sam slide the pizza in my box and I was on the way home.

Yes, I did think of sitting in the parking lot and shoving a slice in my face. How would I explain it to my family? I could wait…maybe.

psst. No, I’m not getting kick-backs, or a free cruise from Myra Jean’s in exchange for sharing all this. I’m writing this blog cause it’s just THAT GOOD!

Drop by and enjoy some good cooking if you’re traveling through Crawfordville, Florida. If you see a guy sporting a colorful bandana in the kitchen. It’s Rob Nutting. Be sure to say hey!
