Are you surprised I’m still around? I’ve been pretty busy with research and writing stories. My most recent book is about Surf Dude a Carolina Dog.

I follow him on The Adventures of Bill & SurfDude. Surf Dude is a beloved stray dog that found a community in Panacea, Florida that adores him.

This sweet pup is a traveling man. Surf Dude is known to cover several counties over a week, but his love of the Florida coast in Panacea and the people who feed him bring him back. Surf’s beginning is unknown, and that’s where I stepped in.

The idea of writing a fiction-based novel, loosely based on Surf Dude’s adventures and the people who feed him played around in my head for a while. It was the gentle nudge of a friend and fellow author, Rhett Devane, that set the wheels in motion.

Once I began writing the story, it only took a few months to complete. Turtle Cove Press expressed interest and I signed a contract this past Sunday!

Even though Surf Dude travels by foot, his reputation proceeds him. He’s known throughout the United States and even abroad. He already has a huge following on the Facebook page mentioned above and what was once a common stray is now a beloved family member to a multitude of fans.

The Adventures of Surf Dude: The Dog of Ochlockonee Bay is tentatively scheduled to be released during the November-December timeframe of 2021.
