Christmas Gifts

Market Days isĀ  the perfect place to go if you’re looking for Christmas Gifts! For over 50 years Market Days has been happening at the Fair Grounds in Tallahassee, Florida. I started going about seven years ago with two dear friends. We take advantage of the Early Bird Shopping Spree and enjoy two hours of browsing before the doors are open to the public.

We have made it a tradition to wear our hats. If we get lost in the crowd, which often happens, it’s the only way we are able to find each other.

This year it rained.

I had to leave my coveted Christmas hat in the car and replace it with an umbrella.

That didn’t stop us from having fun and enjoying the local crafts and art.

Darlene Mills started creating her art pieces this year. If you follow me on my facebook page, you’ll know that I dabble in acrylic painting. I can’t tell you how many tutorials that I’ve watched trying to learn this technique of pour painting. My first project was a bomb. The paint slid around at the pace of a snail and clumped in a few places. I literally scrapped it off. Darlene makes it look like a walk in the park. One of her ornaments is now on my tree!

Excuse the blurry photo, but if you check out her page here, you’ll see some exquisite pieces. She teaches her art too. Sign me up!

Michele O’Neil is another artist that I discovered. If only I’d won the lotto. I love, love, love her pieces. Each face is sculpted by hand and is one of a kind.

Seriously, get a closer look!

Vintage clothing and vintage jewelry were used to cloth her dolls. Truly a treasure to own.

Y’ALL KNOW I LIKE BEACH STUFF, RIGHT?

The Mermaid’s Glass. Doesn’t that sound like my next title to a book? Nope. Recycled Glass has meet its match. Michelle Blalock’s vision is beyond what I’m capable of imagining…even on a good day.

And I have a pretty good imagination, after all, I’m a writer. I stared at this gingerbread man for several minutes.

Check out themermaidsglassetsy.com for additional pieces.

I’ll be honest. I wasn’t financially prepared to find so many pieces that I wanted to take home. Next year, I’ll have more change in my pocket!

I’m now following these artists and hope some of their talent rubs off on me. Grab a hot cup of coffee, get on your cozy jammies, which I did (Christmas gift from a friend), and browse the links above for one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts.

Psst. You can also check out Amazon for my two novels, PAISLEY MEMORIES and DANCING WITH DANDELIONS. Great stocking stuffers.

Merry Christmas.
