Do You Still Use Bookmarks?

Do You Still Use Bookmarks?

Do you still use bookmarks?

I do! I absolutely love bookmarks. Almost as much as books. The best place to acquire free bookmarks are at book events. You’ll meet a plethora of authors distributing their ‘calling cards’ so to speak.  I give them freely when people show an interest in my novels, ‘Paisley Memories’ and ‘Dancing with Dandelions’.

You can also obtain them at bookstores.

When I was a little girl, I made them from anything I could find; a torn picture from a magazine that I glued onto a rectangular piece of cardboard. A paperclip,  ribbon, strips of lace, a feather,  the flap of the dust jacket. I even used a rubber band one.

At the risk of being flogged, I dog-eared a few pages in my youth. Akkk! I know, I know. I feel like I’ve committed a mortal sin in the ‘author world’.

My husband, always mixing up his verbal expressions, refers to ‘dog-earred’ as ‘pig-tailed’.  I loudly object to him doing that to any of my books.

At  my request, several friends submitted photos of their favorite bookmarks.

Some from as far away as Italy and Scotland!

What a fun thing to collect! My cousin, Mary-Frances, has sixty-eight of these. Each time she purchases a book, she also purchases a new bookmark that compliment the book.
